Lawson Foundation, Canada: Two year [2004-2006] seed funding, devoted toward organizing collaborative links with various community mental health agencies, identifying vulnerable groups of severely mentally ill population, exploring their unique needs, developing appropriate life style modification programs and examining their feasibility & acceptability.
Ontario Mental Health Foundation: Two year [2005-2007] operational grant earmarked to conduct a double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical trial comparing the acceptability and effectiveness of a modified diabetes prevention protocol, using standard clinical intervention as a comparator. The trial is conceived as a 5-year project aimed at examining the effectiveness of the modified diabetes prevention protocol in delaying the onset of diabetes, or preventing the occurrence of new onset diabetes mellitus among people with schizophrenia also diagnosed as having pre-diabetes.
